Christmas 2000

December 23rd, 2000 -
My Aunt Sophie departed this world and headed to the next. As a result, I find myself pondering life, as I am empathic towards Dale, my Cousins, Mother, Grandma Sophie, and my Aunt Elayne as they have lost a Wife, Mother, Sister, and Daughter. We all know that Aunt Sophie is in a far better place, and that she had finally completed what she needed to do on this world. I will post a picture of Aunt Sophie as soon as I get my scanner up and running again.

Christmas Eve at the new house. This was a particularly BIG day for me. I have waited many years to be in a position where I could be "the host" for the first time in my life. I unwittingly had no clue what I was getting myself into. Preparation for this day took literally a week (if not more) as we scattered about to put unpacked boxes away, install a bathroom downstairs (thanx a million Brandon), cook some food, and get last minute items we forgot about. Seth and Brandon saved my butt today as both ran about picking things up and bringing them back to the house. To add to the stress of this day was the passing of my Aunt Sophie on the 23rd, knowing that she wouldn't be with us tore my apart in many ways. All went well.... as we gathered and celebrated. Aunt Elayne was an added surprise to the festivities, and Little Lex (Gene and Amy's newborn) was also wonderful to have in our midst.

hmmm couldn't really move much today, my legs and feet feel worse then when I hiked the Grand Canyon. All that standing and running around and hustle and bustle have done me in. Physically, Emotionally, Mentally.... I didn't have much left. A great meal at Mom's was about the only thing that motivated me enough to even roll out of bed. It was great to sit down and NOT have to worry about anything today. After Christmas Eve, I can honestly say, I have so much respect for my Mother, Grandmother, and Tom (my big Bro) for hosting these gatherings for as long as I can remember.

As to right now.... New Year's Eve is fast approaching... yet another night that Marcy and I are hosting a little get together. We aren't really worried about this one... face it, family you need to impress, friends and siblings are just here to party! So long as we have alcohol, some music, and prehaps a few social activities... I don't think we can go wrong. Time will tell.
